Product Overview

The S55 is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six — the M engine that preceded the S58, fitted to the M3 F80 and M4 F82/F83. It combines a 7,600rpm limit with a rev-out that stays clean despite forced induction. The factory exhaust, though, is designed to deliberately suppress sound pressure through its silencers. The engine has the character, but the exhaust note alone falls short. This is the source of the first disappointment most owners notice on the F80 / F82.

TODOROKI™ SINGLE takes everything from the catalytic converter back andSingle-exitA cat-back system that replaces it with this. The mid-pipe isA structure that combines equal-length design with a Z-pipe, crossing the exhaust from the left and right banks before consolidating it into one pipe.A grade that shapes its sound through structure alone, without a valve.

This productMade to orderThis is made to order. Once your order is confirmed, we build one unit exactly to your chosen specification.

Choosing to go without a valve

The TODOROKI™ SINGLE has no valved exhaust. This is not a stripped-down specification, butA grade built on a different design philosophy.

A valved exhaust is a mechanism for switching volume, but the trade-off isMoving parts and electronics are placed partway along the exhaust path. The valve itself, the actuator, the wiring, the controller — all of these sit in a place that's constantly exposed to heat and vibration.

In a configuration without a valve, none of these exist in the first place.Nothing to fail, and no wiring work requiredInstallation is completed simply by reconfiguring the exhaust system. And there's nothing blocking the exhaust path.

In return,There's no option to drive quietly. The volume is the same at cold start as it is through a residential street. If you want to change it to suit the situation, choose one of the valved TODOROKI™ VALVE RS grades.

The Z-pipe equal-length structure

In the S55, two turbos each serve three cylinders. Gas leaving the left and right banks passes through separate turbines before flowing downstream.Where and how to bring together exhaust that's been processed separately on each side. This is what determines the sound quality.

This product's mid-pipe isEqual-length Design. Matching the left and right path lengths means the exhaust pulses reach the junction together. Leave them unequal and they arrive out of step, the pulses cancel each other and the note muddies.

Into that,Z-pipeis added. This design crosses the left and right paths once, equalising the pressure difference before they merge.Gain flow without losing low- and mid-range torque. The equal-length design and the Z-pipe are a combination that doesn't work with just one or the other.

Beyond that point, the path merges into one. Because splitting and merging are kept to a minimum,Exhaust gases exit the car via the shortest possible route.

The choice of a single exit

The factory M3 F80 / M4 F82, F83 use a quad-exit layout. TODOROKI™ SINGLE takes thisA configuration that consolidates into a single exit.

Changing the number of tips is not simply a design change.the length of the exhaust path, the weight at the rear of the car, and the directionality of the sound all change. Where four tips spread the sound left and right, a single exit releases it from one point, so it sounds more concentrated.

This is a configuration people feel strongly about either way. If you want to keep the factory quad-exit look, consider TODOROKI™ VALVE RS with the equal-length mid-pipe.

How the Sound Changes
  • Equal-length Mid-pipe: matching the left and right path lengths brings the exhaust pulses into step. With nothing cancelling out, the note stays clean and keeps its core
  • Z-pipe: Crosses the left and right paths to equalise the pressure difference before they merge. A structure that maintains low-to-mid-range torque while securing flow
  • Silencer Internal Structure: packed with heat-resistant stainless wool and sound-absorbing fibre. Compared with ordinary glass wool it degrades far less under heat, so silencing performance holds up over the long term
  • An exhaust path with no moving parts: Since there is no valve, nothing obstructs the exhaust path. The exhaust follows the same path across the entire rev range
  • Single-exit: Consolidates the outlets into a single exit. This fundamentally changes the rear-end impression compared with the factory quad-exit layout
  • Cat-back Structure: The factory catalytic converter is left in place, replacing only the section downstream of it. As it uses the factory hanger positions, no modification to the vehicle is required
Design based on 3D scanning

Fitment accuracy for an exhaust is determined by the actual car, not the drawings. For the TODOROKI™ F80 / F82 / F83 version,Designed from 3D scan data of an actual car's underbody. Factory hanger positions, floor geometry and clearance to the rear bumper aperture are all pinned down from measured values, so it fits without modifying the car.Because a single-exit layout differs greatly from the factory routing, this measurement accuracy directly determines whether it fits.

Welding isFully TIG-welded at high temperature. The base material is SUS304 stainless steel at a full 1.5mm wall thickness. An exhaust takes heat and vibration continuously, so the quality of every joint is the durability of the system.

How to choose a grade

We offer 6 grades for the M3 F80 / M4 F82 & F83 (S55).With or without a valved exhaustandNumber of Tips, andMaterialplease choose accordingly.

Grade Price What's Included, and Who It's For
TODOROKI™ SINGLE ¥199,800 This item. No valve, Z-pipe equal-length, single exit. A configuration with no moving parts, for those who want to drive with the same sound at all times
TODOROKI™ VALVE RS Equal-Length Mid-Pipe ¥219,800 Equal-length design, quad-exit, valved exhaust. For those who want to switch volume while keeping the same number of tips as stock
TODOROKI™ VALVE RS STRAIGHT ¥219,800 Straight mid-pipe, single exit on the left side, valved. For those who want to change the rear-end look while also switching volume
TODOROKI™ VALVE RS Z-Pipe Equal-Length ¥279,800 A higher grade that pairs the same Z-pipe equal-length structure as this product with a valve. 4-tip
TODOROKI™ SINGLE TITANIUM ¥289,800 A valveless single exit built in full titanium. For those seeking weight savings and the higher-frequency character unique to titanium
TODOROKI™ VALVE RS TITANIUM ¥339,800 Equal-length mid-pipe, 4-tip, made from Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V). Choose from 5 titanium finishes

This product and TODOROKI™ VALVE RS Z-Pipe Equal-Length share the same mid-pipe structure. The difference isValved exhaust or not, and number of tips. For those who don't need to switch volume and prefer the look of a single-exit rear end, this product is the most rational choice.

The Thinking Behind TODOROKI™ SINGLE

SINGLE is the grade that builds its sound through construction alone. There is no valve — no moving part at all — and what that saves goes into material and construction. The silencer body features the TODOROKI™ logo. As a brand, we apply this to every product regardless of price point.

Focusing exclusively on BMW lets us share jigs and validation processes across products, and reading demand chassis by chassis removes the losses that come with small-batch production. Optimising every stage — administration, manufacturing and shipping — is what makes this price possible.
